As of July 2021 there are about 35 million returns yet to be processed.

They are getting around 7 times normally call volume.

When and if refunds can be issue with no human interaction they can be quick.

When a human needs to be involved it can take months.

I sincerely believe the IRS is trying to do a good job and the vast majority of there people are good workers. They just have to much work for the staff involved.

So if no refund, check to see that is is filed and being processed. From there a 2 or 3 month wait is not as of today, abnormal.
